Buy about 22 80 lb bags of mortar for 700 bricks.

  • Bags are rounded up because mortar is sold whole and partial bags set up before you can use them.
  • If you mix from raw materials instead of pre-mix, this Type N batch needs about 206 lb cement, 88 lb lime and 0.49 yd³ sand.
  • Yields are field averages: tight joints, neat tooling and dry weather stretch a bag further, sloppy work uses more.
  • For a double-wythe (two-brick-thick) wall, roughly double the mortar of this single-wythe estimate.

Next stepOrder full bags plus a spare, and keep sand and water on hand if you mix from raw materials.
