Recommended dose: 300 mg per dose.

  • Recommended dose is 15 mg/kg: 20.0 kg x 15 mg/kg = 300 mg per dose.
  • Give a maximum of 4 doses in 24 hours, always at least 4 hours apart. The 24-hour ceiling is 1200 mg.
  • The single-dose limit and the daily limit are separate: 4 doses of 400 mg would come to 1600 mg, which is above the 1200 mg daily ceiling. Use the 300 mg recommended dose for repeat dosing and never let the 24-hour total pass 1200 mg.

Next stepAlways check the product label for the exact concentration of the liquid you have, as formulations vary. Consult a pharmacist or doctor if the child is under 3 months, has liver disease, or is malnourished.
