Adults use the Nadler or weight-based formula. Pediatric patients use age-specific mL/kg factors (100, 85, 75, or 70 mL/kg).
Sex changes the Nadler coefficients and the simple mL/kg factor. The Lemmens-Bernstein-Brodsky equation is not sex-specific.
Nadler is the most widely validated. LBB corrects for obesity. The simple method is a rapid bedside estimate when height is unavailable.
