Age in Days Calculator - How Many Days Old Am I?
Enter your date of birth and this calculator tells you exactly how many days you have been alive, plus your age broken down into weeks, months, hours, and seconds. It also shows when you will hit your next round milestone (like 10,000 days) and how many days away that is. Change the reference date to calculate the age of anything - a person, a business, or a project - on any specific day.
Formula
Worked example
A person born on 1990-01-01, with a reference date of 2026-06-12, has lived through 13,310 days. Dividing by 7 gives 1,901 whole weeks. Dividing by 30.4375 gives about 437.2 months. Multiplying by 24 gives 319,440 hours. The next milestone above 13,310 is 15,000 days, which falls on 2031-02-03 - a fun date to put on the calendar.
How the calculation works
The calculator converts your date of birth and the reference date to timestamps (milliseconds since 1 January 1970) and divides the difference by 86,400,000 (the number of milliseconds in one day). Taking the floor of that result gives you whole completed days, which is the conventional way to express age - just as you are not "26" until the day of your birthday, you are not counted as having lived a day until midnight of that day has passed. Leap years are automatically included because the conversion uses the actual calendar, not a flat 365 days per year.
Why age in days is useful
For most purposes, years are the natural way to track age. But day counts have real uses. Newborns and infants are routinely tracked in days by healthcare providers because development changes so rapidly in the first two years. Researchers use days when precision matters - for example, comparing outcomes across patients of nearly the same age. Programmers often store timestamps and compute ages in seconds, making the day count a useful sanity check. And culturally, round-number day birthdays (especially 10,000 days) have become popular celebrations because the number feels both large and concrete.
How to use the reference date field
By default, the reference date is today, so the result is your current age in days. You can change it to any past or future date. This makes the tool useful for working out how old someone was on a historical date, how old a company or project will be at a planned milestone, or when a specific age in days will fall. For example: you want to know what day your child will turn 1,000 days old - enter their birth date, set the reference date forward, and watch the result until it reads 1,000. Or enter the date directly and check the milestone date field, which shows the calendar date of the next milestone automatically.
How to convert days to years, months, and weeks
Converting days to years requires accounting for leap years. The standard approach is to divide by 365.25 (the average Gregorian year length). This gives you a decimal - 10,000 days is approximately 27.38 years, or 27 years and about 4.5 months. Converting to months uses 30.4375 days (365.25 / 12). Weeks are simpler: divide by 7 and take the floor. Hours are days multiplied by 24, and seconds are days multiplied by 86,400. All of these conversions are shown in the steps panel above.

Frequently asked questions
How many days old am I if I was born on [date]?
Enter your birth date in the "Date of birth" field and leave the reference date as today. The calculator instantly shows the exact number of whole days you have been alive, accounting for every leap year in between. For a quick estimate: multiply your age in years by 365.25 and round down.
How does the calculator handle leap years?
It uses actual calendar arithmetic: both dates are converted to precise timestamps and the difference is divided by exactly 86,400,000 milliseconds (one day). Every leap day that has actually occurred between your birth date and the reference date is included automatically. You do not need to add or subtract anything manually.
What is 10,000 days in years?
10,000 days is approximately 27 years and 4 months (more precisely, 27.379 years using the 365.25-day average year). Someone born on 1 January 1997 turns 10,000 days old around 18 May 2024. It has become a popular milestone to celebrate because the number is memorable and the age is right in the middle of adult life.
Can I calculate the age of a business or project?
Yes. The "Date of birth" field accepts any start date - just enter the founding date of the company, the launch date of the project, or any other start event. The result will be how many days that entity has existed as of the reference date.
How do I find out what date I will turn a specific number of days old?
The calculator shows your next round milestone automatically in the "Milestone date" output. If you want to find a specific day count - say, exactly 10,000 days - take your birth date and add 10,000 days to it. Many calendar tools support date-addition, or you can use the reference date field here: adjust the reference date until the age-in-days output reads the number you want.
Why does the months result show a decimal?
Calendar months have different lengths (28, 29, 30, or 31 days), so converting days to months requires choosing a standard. This calculator uses 30.4375 days per month (which is 365.25 / 12, the average month length in the Gregorian calendar). That means the result is an approximation rather than a count of whole calendar months. For exact months, you would need to count how many complete calendar months have passed since your birth date, which is a different calculation.
