Olivia Grant, MS, RD

Registered Dietitian

12+ years Toronto, Canada

Registered Dietitian helping individuals and clinicians make sense of nutrition science through evidence-based tools and clear guidance.

Olivia Grant is a Registered Dietitian with 12 years of clinical and applied practice spanning hospital-based metabolic care, outpatient chronic disease management, and pediatric nutrition research. Working out of Toronto, she has spent the bulk of her career at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where she designs individualized nutrition plans for patients managing obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, populations for whom accurate macronutrient and caloric data are not academic abstractions but daily clinical decisions. That direct patient work informs the precision she brings to every calculator she builds or reviews.

Before joining Sunnybrook, Olivia spent four years in the outpatient Metabolic Clinic at University Health Network, counselling adults through post-bariatric recovery and medically supervised weight loss. Earlier in her career she contributed to nutrition intervention research at SickKids, where she developed an appreciation for the gap between published dietary reference values and the practical tools people actually use to apply them. Her graduate research at the University of Toronto examined how resting metabolic rate prediction equations perform across diverse Canadian adult populations, work that directly underpins the methodology she scrutinises when authoring calculators for basal metabolic rate, TDEE, and macronutrient distribution.

At OnlyCalculators, Olivia authors and reviews tools in the nutrition, calories and macros, diet planning, and food science categories. She cross-references each formula against current peer-reviewed literature and Canadian and international dietary reference standards, and she field-tests the outputs against the real-patient ranges she encounters in clinic to catch edge cases that pure desk review misses. Her work has also appeared in continuing education content for the College of Dietitians of Ontario, and she holds a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist designation that keeps her methodology current with evolving clinical guidelines.

In their words
“Every calculator she publishes is validated against primary literature and stress-tested on clinical edge cases before it reaches a user, because a number that looks plausible but is off by ten percent can meaningfully mislead a real person's dietary decisions.”
